About this design

'Sssh...Hitchcock' - manipulation by stealth. Consider what happens after the famous shower scene in Psycho. Norman, poor Norman, poor damaged voyeur Norman, is trying to cover-up the murder of our heroine Marion, played with superb terror by Janet Leigh. He cleans up the bathroom and puts her body into the boot of a car. He takes that car, drives it to a swamp and pushes it in. The car slowly sinks beneath the muddy water. With a few bubbles and gurgles the car starts to disappear from view, the anxious Norman looking on, biting his nails. We start to feel his anxiety, the evidence must disappear, we don't want poor Norman to be in trouble… then the car stops sinking, it's still clearly visible above the water. We catch our breath. Norman looks around, panic begins to rise in his throat. After a breathless moment the car begins to sink again, finally disappearing. We breathe easier. We are happy that a murder has been covered up successfully. At what point did we switch our allegiance from Marion to Norman? Beautiful.

Psycho is one of many highlights in Afred Hitchcock's extensive filmography. He is a true inspiration. People see the superficial; a chubby cockney grocer's son that went on to lust after Hollywood blondes, and give him titles like 'master of suspense', but a truer title would be 'master of his craft' - something to which all artists, regardless of their chosen art, should aspire. I think he hid his fierce intelligence very well, but it can be seen in the fact that he is probably one of the two or three most influential film directors ever.

A little bit about the designer: Antony Buonomo has a long and varied career. After working as a producer/director for the BBC, Antony invested in his frst Mac and copy of Photoshop. Fast forward a little and he has won an Emmy for his VFX work, and continues doing motion graphics for TV and feature films. In his spare time he turns his talented hand to creating t-shirt designs in admiration of his celluloid heroes. This Alfred Hitchcock tshirt design is one of the first two to be published by WeAdmire.net. The other T-shirt design by Antony is of one of his favourite acotrs: Tony Hancock.
