About this design
The C-130 Hercules is a legendary aircraft, after its first flight over 50 years ago in 1954, the Hercules has gone on to become the longest continuously built military aircraft in history.
Serving in many a theatre of war, it also has provided a great deal of humanitarian support and is admired by many aviation fans as a truly versatile and proficient workhorse.
I guess growing up near Richmond Air Force Base in NSW, Australia had something to do with my admiration of this aircraft. Richmond is the home of many RAAF C-130 Hercules and it always drew my attention when I saw one in action, taking-off, landing or flying extremely low over Richmond with the back cargo door lowered during training exercises.
(The video on the right shows an Australian C-130 performing exercises over Richmond & the Blue Mountains Australia, where I live.)
