About this design
Henri Matisse was a French artist who different aspects of art including printmaking, sculpting, draughting and of course painting, in which he excelled the most. Remembered for his remarkable use of colour and light.
Like everyone else, Matisse eventually grew old and due to poor health he was no longer able to paint or draw easily. This did not stop him though, he created artworks by using scissors to cut coloured shapes in paper and had assistants prepare them for printing.
These cutouts became a book called "Jazz" - this is the basis of my design.
