About this design
This t-shirt design admires the Chinese legend of Wan Hu.
It is well known that the Chinese were the first to develop rockets as early as the 13th Century (after Black Powder was discovered by Taoist Alchemists in their search for the "Elixir of life").
This knowledge was applied to many forms of warfare such as bombs, cannons and rocket-propelled arrows.
One man who took the knowledge to another level was Wan Hu (ca. 1500A.D.).
Wan Hu was more interested in space travel than warfare, and he had an idea that was bold if not a little crazy.
According to the legend, Wan decided to launch himself into outer space, aiming for the moon.
He supposedly had forty-seven rockets attached to a chair... the first ever purpose built spacecraft!
On the day of lift-off, Wan, splendidly attired, climbed into his rocket chair and forty seven servants lit the fuses and then ran for cover. There was a huge explosion. When the smoke cleared, Wan and the chair were gone, and was said never to have been seen again.
It may not have worked, but we admire his courage and desire to reach the moon so long ago.
