About this design
In The Rats in the Walls (1924), a wealthy old American returns to and renovates his family's ancient ancestral home in England, known as Exham Priory. Local folk-law about his family's strange past causes the inhabitants of the area to keep well clear of him and his land, though they will not speak of the reasoning why, and all family records were lost in a fire generations before.
At night, the priory seams to be infested with rats that are never seen, and which can only be heard by the old man and his many cats... One night he dreams of funghi-like pigs writhing around clumsily in a dark pit, and then suddenly a cascade of enormous rats sweeps down and devours them alive.
This is my interpretation of that dream.
