About this design
Born Maria Sklodowska to Polish parents, Marie Curie took her more famous surname from, of course, her husband Pierre Curie. She was an extraordinary woman. Apart from being the first person ever to win two nobel prizes, she was also the first female professor at the University of Paris, she also pioneered the use of Radioactivity for useful purposes, and she also discovered the element Polonium, which she named after her beloved country of birth.
Above all, though, she was the first to look into the treatment of cancer, which should put her very high on our list of people to admire. This design celebrates Polonium, which has been used in many labour-saving ways since its discovery in 1898.
