About this design
Born in North London 1957, Neville Brody studied at the London College of Printing. He became a graphic and type designer with a devoted following for his anti-traditional views, going on to take the position of Art Director first of The Face, a London-based "style" magazine from soon after its birth, then of the men's magazine Arena. By the early 1990s he was able, with a straight face, to recommend abandoning typography's requirement of legibility - gloating as a chill shot down the spines of his type-pro audiences... Other international magazine directions have included City Limits, Lei, Per Lui, Actuel and Arena, together with London`s The Observer newspaper and magazine. Brody has consistently pushed the boundaries of visual communication in all media through his experimental and challenging work, and continues to extend the visual languages we use through his exploratory creative expression. In 1988 Brody published the first of his two monographs, which became the world`s best selling graphic design book. Combined sales now exceed 120,000. This tee shirt uses Brody`s distinctive Insignia and FF Blur fonts. We Admire is picked out vertically in red and also in the horizontal lines. For my t shirt design I used the FF Blur font between the larger Insignia to make more explicit what is already suggested by Brody`s design... "read between the lines".
