About this design
Based on an older play by Cinthio, called 'Un Capitino Moro', Shakespeare put some extra characters in and generally made it his own. For Cinthio, it was a morality tale that warned women to stay away from the unpredictable temperaments of foreign men. (not much has changed).
Iago's treachery is perfect and his revenge without reserve. The text in this design is when Iago, having lured Othello in with hints of infidelity, finally reveals the lie that cassio has been 'liaising' with Desdemona.
