About this design
The world famous American photographer was born Endre Friedman in Budapest in 1913. He left Hungary in 1932, studying Political Science at Deutsche Hochschule für Politik in Berlin before fleeing the Nazi regime and settling in Paris in 1933. Robert Capa the famous American photographer was the creation of Friedman and fellow journalist & photographer Gerda Taro. Capa's documentation of the Spanish Civil War gained much exposure but it was his photo of a fatally wounded Loyalist soldier which earned him his international reputation.
The dedication to the goal of reporting the facts of life meant Robert took great risks. The same risks as the soldiers he followed including those landing in Normandy at Omaha beach on D-Day. He volunteered to be parachuted into Germany with the 17th airborne division of American soldiers. They jumped directly into the enemy's fire. Anything to get the photograph.
"If your photographs aren't good enough, you're not close enough."
Robert Capa founded Magnum Photos in 1947 with David Seymour, George Rodger, William Vandivert, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. He died after stepping on a landmine on 25th May 1954 when photographing in Thai-Binh, Indochina, for Life.
I greatly admire the man. I hope you do to.
