About this design
I was interested to discover that the Toucan has a constellation - Tucana . In Aztec mythology the beak of a Toucan was made from rainbows, a little gift for taking messages to the gods. The Toucan was therefore associated with bringing rain, with ceremonies that used toucan feathers. During mating, male and female Toucans, hurl pieces of fruit (berries and nuts) to one another and catch them in their bills. Quite a feat with what appears to be such an unwieldy appendage. Made of honeycomb of bone, it is both strong and light, although it is more used to deter than to actually attack with.
