This t-shirt design was created in admiration of Leica’s IIIf camera and the work of Oskar Barnack.
There is an enduring appeal in beautifully made objects where function is an overriding consideration but where attention to detail, uncompromising quality, precise manufacture and obsessive commitment in design elevates the object into something with durability and profound appeal. Typically these objects have the quality of nothing superfluous and nothing missing. There is similarly profound appeal in owning and wearing work the quality of which is singular. Here we have one of four examples of beautiful functional objects beautifully simulated and reproduced by Yukio Miyamoto in Adobe Illustrator.
Leica had been producing the world’s best 35mm camera for some time before they gave us the IIIf, but 60 years or so on if you had one you would still cherish it and it would still be taking perfect photographs. Yukio Miyamoto’s work in simulating effects like the light refraction in the lens coating might be taken for granted for being so visually familiar but to see the work needed to achieve it here is to be amazed, it is exquisitely precise. These cameras never let their owners down and consistently exceeded their expectations. Yukio’s simulation, which is entirely scaleable without loss of resolution, has a partial 3D visual quality that is not lost when reproduced on a t shirt. It has a super realistic feel to it that subtly lets viewers know they are not looking at a photograph. Yukio is probably the world’s most accomplished user of the Adobe gradient mesh tool. To view the Adobe Illustrator file and lift the layers of illustrative fill to get to the basic line drawing that is printed on the reverse of the shirt is astonishing. This is art and craftsmanship of the highest order. Printed front and rear. Can be personalised with a name or thumbnail image for no extra charge. Please email us to complete this detail.
These shirts are printed on the front and back. The line drawing to the back of the shirt with the filled illustration on to the front. The filled illustration is printed at 800 dpi.
All shirts in this series are designed in Adobe Illustrator by Yukio Miyamoto and are £49
These t shirts are unique for being made exclusively for us wholly with fibres ring spun into yarns manufactured exclusively for WeAdmire. These yarns are then knitted into a single jersey fabric suitable for t shirts.
The CoolMax bit exploits the surface tension of water to wick moisture from your skin. It works through micro channels engineered into the profile of the fibre. These channels are physical attributes, they are there for the life of the fibre.
The Fresh FX bit embeds a silver salt in the molecular structure of the fibre that stops the propagation of bacteria which, left unchecked, ultimately cause a sour odour. Because the silver salt is embedded within the fibre it, like the wicking, is similarly permanent; it will not leech out with wear and washing.
These attributes deliver shirts that remain cool and dry almost regardless of what you might do in them and similarly they remain fresh. And the ongoing performance of the fabric is guaranteed. This is important, these shirts will become your favourite items of apparel, you will want to wear your shirts again and again.
These shirts are marvellous to travel with, they stay fresh if you don’t have the chance to wash them, they wash easily when you do have the chance, and they dry super quickly. There is also a very useful side effect to all this: our shirts keep anything you wear on top of them and what you might wear after wearing them fresher too.
The cut and fit and sizing of these shirts is exclusive to us and was specified by Anastasia Vouyouka, a published guru of fit in the fashion industry.
The feel of the very best natural fibre shirts you have experienced with the performance of the fibres that set the benchmarks for wicking and freshness. It is very unlikely you will have experienced this level of technical performance in a decorated t shirt before.
