Wan Hu by Guy Pendlebury
A apocryphal tale of man’s earliest attempts to “boldly go…” Wan Hu was an ambitious civil servant in The Ming Dynasty, circa 2000 BC who tried to exploit the gun powder powered rockets of the day. Dressed for the occasion in a grand chair his assistants lit the fuses and ran. Wan was not seen again or survived badly burnt to be later severely punished for his hubris. Take your pick.
